You are not alone in your pain
An estimated 75% of the U.S. population has experienced one or more signs or symptoms of TMJ Dysfunction (TMD). In fact, by the time a TMD or facial pain patient is referred to the TMJ & Facial Pain Institute for specialized TMJ treatment, he or she has been to an average of four practitioners! We understand how frustrating undiagnosed and unresolved orofacial pain can be to a patient.
We are dedicated to relieving your pain… conservatively
Harold F. Menchel, DMD and his staff specialize in the conservative, non-surgical treatment of chronic facial pain disorders using a scientific, university-based team approach. Dr. Menchel is Board certified in the treatment of orofacial pain and helps his patients find relief from the persistent, incapacitating pain that has debilitated them for years. Dr. Menchel is also an adjunct faculty member at Nova Southeastern University, School of Dental Medicine.
“Simple self-care practices are often effective in easing TMD symptoms. If more treatment is needed, it should be conservative and reversible. Avoid, if at all possible, treatments that cause permanent changes in the bite or jaw. Many practitioners, especially dentists, are familiar with the conservative treatment of TMD…Specially trained facial pain experts can often be helpful in diagnosing and treating TMD.”
